WHAT: The Agora Institute for Strategic Thinking (IPEA) is a non-profit and independent public policy, market-oriented research and education Think Tank. It trains a new generation of policy entrepreneurs and leaders promoting the principles of a free and prosperous society where the dignity and rights of each individual ought to be respected. We believe that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary achievements when they have the tools and the conditions to empower their potential. The Institute is working hard on providing both. It is a national catalyst and reference point in the generation of ideas and innovative strategies that lead to the solving of sensitive, complex problems.
WHO: The Institute has a very powerful “intellectual asset.” Its Executive team, Boards and group of International Friends is made up by outstanding young leaders, scholars and experts who have a strong commitment to get involved and improve Mexico; people with ethical values that recognize themselves as powerful agents of change. The Institute is identifying young leaders willing to become a source of creativity that instead of demanding from society, will contribute to expand the possibilities of other human beings to achieve their own development.
HOW: The Institute offers a series of products and services. These products seek to advance its mission. The deepest change has to start in the ideas which have consequences. These consequences will have a strong impact in the short, mid and long terms. The Institute has clear strategies to achieve its objectives; it thinks globally and acts locally. The change will be slow but it will happen and the culture of apathy, conformism and corruption will be replaced by a culture of integrity, legality and order.
The Institute translates the most complex ideas into common language to make them available and easy to understand for most people. It promotes the application of principles in public policies. To achieve this goal, scholars and policy makers broaden the parameters of the debate working hand in hand with key sectors both in society and government. Public opinion play a key role. The Institute influences decision making.
Though ideas lie at the core of any change, they alone don’t suffice. While the exposure of ideas results in consequence, the work and participation of youth and of a united society is also necessary. The construction of a country is responsibility of all. The IPEA has been conceived as an agent of change, promoter of ideas and link between people that work together for the construction of a better world. The young sector of society can and should be the catalyst of transformation. But let us not forget that for these changes to successfully happen, ideas don’t suffice – we need reference points to guide our way, and it is our principles that serve as our reference points.
In the case of the IPEA, its principles are its foundation. We wish to live in a society where peace, respect and tolerance are predominant. Let us embark on the quest of building the Mexico we desire beginning in our homes, families, friends, work, enterprises, and Universities – for what isn’t present here won’t be present in Mexico as a whole. If the moment for action isn’t now, then when? If it isn’t you, then who?
